Watermelon Sugar

"In watermelon sugar the deeds were done and done again as my life is done in watermelon sugar. I'll tell you about it because I am here and you are distant. Wherever you are, we must do the best we can. It is so far to travel, and we have nothing here to travel, except watermelon sugar. I hope this works out."

—Richard Brautigan

Watermelon Sugar at the Beach
Singing & sandcastles
Aug 8, 2008
Watermelon Sugar enjoyed a musical week at the beach. We got creative and wrote new songs, still finding time to play in the surf and and build castles in the sand!
For your listening plesasure we've uploaded a demo one of our latest, the "Rubik's Cube Song."
Or view it on YouTube if you like.

This song uncovers the past in which Louise was obsessed with puzzles.
It also uncovers the present in which there are 18 zeros in quintillion.

Sweet! It's finally here!
After much loving cultivation, Watermelon Sugar is pleased to present our best collection of songs yet - a slice of pure, sweet acoustic.
Visit iTunes to immediately download Slice's songs to your ipod.
Visit CD Baby if you want to have and hold your very own copy of "Slice" (a sweet experience indeed!).
Enjoy!

"Slice" so close!

Ringing in the New Year together was oh-so-much fun – check out the pictures! We’re looking forward to the next time, wherever that may be…the possibilities are endless when you live on opposite sides of the globe since meeting in the middle could be anywhere!
Our third album, “Slice” has been sent for replication and will be available for your CD’s and MP3 players in a matter of weeks. We are so excited to share these sweet songs with you!
We’ve also been working on some new music, trying to share it with each other via the internet and planning more musical merrymaking in Hong Kong - “we yearn to return, yearn to return to The Wanch” and North Carolina and wherever the sweet muse takes us during this glorious Year of the Rat.

Java Jezebels at Tate Street
Java Jezebels in Greensboro
Sep 6, 2007
Thanks to all who joined us for the caffeine-induced musical merrimaking at Tate Street Coffee House last weekend. Louise especially enjoyed the Iced Black & Tan which was served with whipped cream, as all coffee drinks should be. Hypatia particularly enjoyed the posters of "Java Jezebels" and "Espressorella." Peace, love and understanding to "Mountain Fairy" and our other new friends.
We've approved the artwork for the third CD, "Slice," and hope to share it with you very soon.
We also found some time to write a new song, "Wanchai," an ode to performing at The Wanch in Hong Kong, which we look forward to doing again.
With Watermelon Sugar now living on opposite ends of the globe, these musical interludes are precious indeed and oh so enjoyable. We may be cooking something up for the end of the year. Stay tuned.
As always, more can be found on MySpace and Louise's website.

Hong Kong Phew-Whee!
Jul 2, 2007
Watermelon Sugar folkin rocked The Wanch in Hong Kong! John and everyone there is so friendly and fun; no wonder it’s the #1 live music venue in Hong Kong. Wednesday night we opened up for a wonderful and talented band, Helter Skelter. Jamming along with John and Helter Skelter on the Rolling Stone’s “Sympathy for the Devil” was about as much fun as one can legally have and we were thrilled to be a part of it. Friday night was packed as Love Shot performed their last show before the bassist moves across the Pacific. Again, we all had so much fun!
Check out the photos from some of our Hong Kong adventures.
Watermelon Sugar will be looking forward to the next time. We're talking about possibly adding a show or two in Beijing next time we play in Hong Kong.
The artwork for our third album, "Slice," should be completed soon (thanks Dan!) then it’s off to the duplicators, and then we hope to take over your CD and MP3 players.
Until then, you can find more on Watermelon Sugar by visiting our MySpace page or www.louisebendall.com.
